In previous research on programming education, including research on the early childhood stage, a wide range of studies have been reported, including surveys of the awareness of teachers and parents, research on teaching materials for young children, and practices related to logical thinking and programming during developmental stages. Based on these previous studies, we considered that it would be effective to connect programming activities in early childhood to the school stage and to relate them to modeling activities that emphasize direct experiences appropriate to the developmental stage of young children. From the current situation in the field of childcare, it was found that there is a problem in the training of teachers who can teach “ programmatic thinking” in the early childhood stage. To this end, we decided to study the development of programming activities that are related to modeling activities and programming at teacher training schools. As a first step, we conducted an interview survey of one NPO and a child-care facilities that are practicing programming education for young children in relation to modeling activities.
